Dr. Ker Sin Tze
Consul-General of Singapore in Hong Kong and Macao


Dr Ker Sin Tze was born on 24 December 1944.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the then Nanyang University, Singapore, in 1966.  He obtained his Master’s and PhD degree in Economics from the University of Manitoba, Canada, in 1968 and 1972 respectively.
He was Staff Economist at the Economic Council of Canada between 1972 and 1974.  Upon his return to Singapore, he taught at the Department of Economics & Statistics in the University of Singapore (1974-1980).  In 1980, he was Managing Director of Liang Court Private Limited and served in this capacity until 1991.  He was elected a Member of Parliament for the Aljunied Group Representation Constituency in the 1991 General Election.  Thereafter, he was appointed Minister of State for Education and Minister of State for Information and The Arts from 1992 to 1994.  He was Managing Director, Yenom Holdings Pte Ltd between 1994 and 2001.
Dr Ker also served as Director of several statutory boards.  He was Director of Singapore Broadcasting Corporation and Vice-Chairman of Chinese Development and Assistance Council (CDAC).  He also served on the board of several listed companies.

He was appointed Trade Representative in the Singapore Trade Office in Taipei from October 2002 to June 2007. He was the Special Adviser to Minister for Foreign Affairs from July to December 2007.  Dr Ker assumed his current post as Consul-General in Hong Kong and Macao in January 2008.
Dr Ker is married to Madam Lee Geok Peng and they have two sons.
